
EU Parliament's Committee Member Condemns Structure's Biased Stance On Azerbaijan
During the conversation, Seyidov noted that several MPs of theEuropean Parliament represent the interests of lobby groups ratherthan European voters. He also stated that the European Parliament'sApril 25 resolution on the issue of civil society and human rightsin Azerbaijan, which is far from objective, was adopted on thebasis of false information. It was emphasized that this unjustifieddecision is not only a blatant embodiment of allegations againstthe country but also a clear example of double standards. Referringto the fact that the true reasons for dirty political actionsagainst Azerbaijan are well known, the Committee Chairmanemphasized that no forces will be able to put pressure on us andthat our country will continue to pursue an independent policy ofpeace and equal, mutually beneficial cooperation.
Poreba spoke about the goals of his visit. Referring to hisvisit to the town of Shusha liberated from occupation one and ahalf years ago during his first visit to Azerbaijan, he touchedupon the current trends in the region and prospects for furtherdevelopment, expressing satisfaction with the positive results ofthe negotiations on the delimitation between Azerbaijan andArmenia. Noting Azerbaijan's important economic and geographicallocation, he touched upon our country's ties with the EuropeanUnion and expressed his opinion on the need to further deepen theEU's cooperation with Azerbaijan, the leading country of the SouthCaucasus region, in many spheres, including such important segmentsas energy, environment, transportation, and logistics.
Condemning the European Parliament's biased anddouble-standard-based position on Azerbaijan, Poreba consideredthis position an unfair and illogical step. Noting the importanceof solving the emerging issues not through pressure but onlythrough cooperation and equal dialog, the Member of the EuropeanParliament emphasized that Azerbaijan is a reliable partner of theEU, and this cooperation should be continued in the future.
During the meeting, committee member Tural Ganjaliyev talkedabout mutually beneficial cooperation between Azerbaijan and theEuropean Union, noting that the country is interested in deepeningcooperation with the EU in the field of transportation andlogistics.
